Styrofoam

It’s a cracker!

Styrofoam

Why separate styrofoam?

Styrofoam (EPS) stands for expanded polystyrene and is easily recyclable, but only if it’s collected separately. Styrofoam cannot be post-separated and cannot be collected with the PMD. If it ends up in the residual waste, it is incinerated with it. Not separating styrofoam is a waste of valuable raw materials. In addition, EPS often produces a large volume of residual waste, so by separating you save big amounts of residual waste!

What happens with my styrofoam?

Styrofoam (EPS) can be reused in a number of ways. Ideally it can be used for new products such as the filling for bean bags or cushions. If that is not possible, it can be recycled into new styrofoam or used to make plastics.

  • EPP styrofoam
  • EPE foam
  • Organic compostable styrofoam
