As Europe’s largest circular platform Seenons raises €10M for further development
Amsterdam, Wednesday 5th of April – Today tech-platform Seenons announces that it has raised €10 million in a recent investment round. The aim is to invest this amount in the further development of Europe’s largest circular platform, which concretely means internationalization and improvement of technology. Import of waste, incineration, oceans full of plastic – in the light of climate change, this is the limit. As a ‘waste orchestrator’, Seenons accelerates the circular transition and, thanks to investors such as Invest-NL, CapitalT., Tablomonto, Swiss Post and Shamrock Ventures, is able to increase this impact at an international level.
Waste orchestrator – from linear to circular
Seenons was built to accelerate the circular transition as a much-needed ‘waste orchestrator’. An independent tech-platform that is the first waste company to make money by actually reducing waste, without stranded assets or vested interests. In 4 years, Seenons has grown from an innovative idea to an international company with more than 75 employees and can call itself Europe’s leading circular platform.
“We are very proud to announce that our company has successfully raised €10 million in a recent round of financing, even in difficult macroeconomic conditions. We would like to sincerely thank CapitalT, Tablomonto, Shamrock Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures and Invest-NL for their support and belief in our mission,” said Joost Kamermans, co-founder and CEO of Seenons.
Urgency circularity
With one look at the latest news that the Netherlands is going to import waste for incineration from Rome, you realize the urgency to become more circular. Countries all over Asia and Africa are refusing to accept European waste and now we are starting to pass it on to each other. “Our goal is to invest in a world without waste, which is more important than ever when you consider climate change, resource depletion and geopolitical tensions that call for greater strategic autonomy. We aim to eliminate incineration, landfill use and dumping of waste in our oceans, as there is literally no time to waste,” says Joost.
“As Invest-NL we see the urgency to transform from a linear to a circular economy. Seenons’ platform is a key digital enabler for the circular economy connecting organizations with waste, logistic providers and processors to turn waste into valuable materials and products. As such, Seenons perfectly fits our investment strategy to support companies that accelerate the transition towards a circular economy,” explains Elwin van Rooijen, investment manager at Invest-NL.
Grow together
Martin Kayser, co-founder of Seenons and CTO: “With this funding we want to enable higher steps on the R-ladder: Reduce / Reuse / Recycle, in multiple countries across Europe. We will invest heavily in our leading European circular platform, an independent platform that serves as a waste orchestrator to transform the economy from linear to circular.”
Partners from Europe can join the platform, and with it the mission to bring people together for a waste-free world. This concerns companies with a lot of waste that want to prevent waste, logistics companies, waste processors, waste consultants and reuse solutions.
